Wuling Alvez launches at a surprising price. But apparently in the Indonesian SUV market, Wuling Alvez is not the cheapest.
Wuling Alvez adds to the bustling SUV market in the country. As a lure, Wuling sells Alvez with prices starting at IDR 209 million to the most expensive IDR 295 million. Among its rivals in the compact SUV segment, Wuling Alvez is the cheapest. However, of the entire SUV segment in Indonesia, the price tag of Rp. 209 million for the Wuling Alvez is not the cheapest.
The SUV that costs less than Wuling Alvez is the Daihatsu Rocky 1.2 M MT. The lowest variant of Daihatsu Rocky sells for IDR 206.45 million. Having the status as the cheapest SUV, the Rocky 1.2 M MT is still equipped with various features.
For example, from a safety standpoint, Daihatsu has embedded two airbags, Side Impact Beam, front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, ABS, EBD, 3 point seatbelt, seatbelt warning and Child Safety Lock.
Then in the interior, embedded Anti Glare Inner Mirror, Sunvisor with glass, Optitron speedometer, MID Segmented screen measuring 4 inches, cup holder on the front, push type AC, console box with armrest, and power socket.
In order to increase driving comfort, there is already Electric Power Steering, Tilt Steering, Speed Sensing Front Wiper, Power Window Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock, Keyless, Immobilizer, 2 speakers in front, a 7-inch entertainment screen that can be connected to a cell phone.
Daihatsu Rocky 1.2 M MT carries a 3-cylinder engine coded WA-VE with a capacity of 1,198 cc. This machine can produce 88.4 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 11.5 kg.m of torque at 4,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Just for comparison with Wuling Alvez, whose price is IDR 3 million, the features don’t seem much different. For example, from a security standpoint, there are ABS, EBD, Emergency Stop Signal, Two Airbags, Isofix and Child Proof Lock, Immobilizer, Anti-Theft alarm, Seatbelt reminder on the driver’s side. Likewise, in terms of comfort, there are digital AC settings, 2 speakers, and a MID screen.
The cheapest variant of Wuling Alvez carries an inline 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 1,485 cc. This machine is capable of producing 105 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 143 Nm of torque in the 4,000-6,000 rpm range. The cheapest variant of the Wuling Alvez engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
