This is the look of the Extortion Coordinator at JICT Tanjung Priok who was arrested by the police

Tanjung Priok Harbor Police capture extortion coordinator in the Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) area. The suspect Achmad Zainul Arifin (39) is a supervisor at a company outsourcing.

“The suspect is in the name of Achmad Zainul Arifin (39), who is the superior of the perpetrators who were previously arrested,” said Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief AKBP Putu Kholis Aryana in his statement, Saturday (12/6/2021).

From the suspect Achmad Zainul Arifin, the police confiscated evidence of Rp 600 thousand cash and soccer shoes worth Rp 2.7 million.

The suspect was arrested on Friday (11/6) night. Thus, the Tanjung Priok Port Police have arrested eight perpetrators related to extortion at JICT.

Previously, the Tanjung Priok Port Police arrested seven perpetrators of extortion in the area JICT Tanjung Priok Port. The perpetrators demanded a sum of money from illegal levies from container drivers.

7 Operators Arrested

The seven perpetrators had the initials MAG (37), RD (41), AS (36), WW (24), BEP (31), RPH (50), and B (42). The perpetrators were arrested this morning at around 01.00 WIB.

Putu said that many of these perpetrators worked as operator crane at location. The perpetrator then asked the truck driver for money to facilitate the loading and unloading process.

“If (money) is not given, container loading and unloading services will be slowed down,” explained Kholis.

Money Request Mode

In carrying out their actions, the perpetrators extortion place a plastic container or beverage bottle on the body of the appliance crane. The place must then be filled by the container drivers so that they can be served immediately.

“This method is unique, the perpetrator puts an empty plastic container or mineral drink bottle on the body of the tool crane which must then be filled in by the driver with nominal denominations of Rp. 5,000 to Rp. 20 thousand. If you don’t give money, the driver will not be served or served slowly,” said Putu.
