Do you know Highway where is the longest in Indonesia? This toll road is the 189 Km Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung toll road in South Sumatra. This toll road is divided into two sections, namely Section I of the 112 km Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang section and Section II of the 77 Km Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung section.
Apart from being the longest in Indonesia, this section is also the fastest developed section in Indonesia. Quoting BPJT’s official statement, Saturday (22/5/2021), this section was built in just 2.5 years and was inaugurated or operated since 2019.
For this achievement, the construction of this toll road also won a record for the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) by breaking the record for the longest toll road construction.
Highway it has an important role in improving connectivity between Lampung province and South Sumatra province. Then it is also connected with various productive areas, which can support economic growth, reduce logistics costs, and create new economic centers on the island of Sumatra.
Later Highway Trans Sumatra (JTTS) is targeted to be connected from Lampung to Aceh in 2024. Until now, it has been operating for 653 km, consisting of 9 toll roads. The following are the nine toll roads:
1. Bakauheni – Terbanggi Besar 140 Km
2. Terbanggi Besar – Kayu Agung 189 Km
3. Kayu Agung – Palembang – Betung 38 Km
4. Belawan – Medan – Tanjung Morawa 43 Km
5. Medan – Binjai 13 Km
6. Medan – Kualanamu – Tebing Tinggi 62 Km
7. Palembang – Indralaya 22 Km
8. Sigli – Banda Aceh Section 4 14 Km
9. Pekanbaru – Dumai 132 Km
