It recently marked 35 years since the launch of Windows 1.01, which marked the beginning of Microsoft’s operating system, it took Windows time to reach the peak of success, but little by little it was building the path that has catapulted it as the operating system for computers most used in the world.
In 1983 Microsoft announced that its operating system would go on sale in 1984, although it actually did so until 1985, and that year was enough to change the name that Bill Gates he had thought for the launch, as he actually wanted it to be called “Interface Manager”.
By then windows or Windows were not something alien to operating systems, Apple had already released Lisa along with its Macintosh, so users already knew what a windowed interface was.
The case of Interface Manager was not much different, but what could have changed his mind was the marketing campaign for the launch of his operating system to the market.

According Amy Stevenson, who works as an archivist at Microsoft and is dedicated to publishing great anecdotes of the company, in 1984 Pad Edstrom was the head of marketing and in charge of creating the campaign for Interface Manager, however, the name did not convince him in any of his projects for the campaign.
However, the Windows name had the advantage of being something much more attached to the essence of the operating system, and it was a simple name known to users.
In the end, Gates was convinced that Windows was the best option, and in 1985 the first commercial version of this operating system was launched.
