The planet farthest from the Sun is Neptune. The planet is about 30 times farther from Earth to the Sun and takes about 165 Earth years to complete one orbit around the Sun.
Neptune rotates on its axis faster than Earth. If balanced, approximately one day on Neptune equals 16 hours on Earth.
Neptune Discovered by Scientists in 1846

Neptune is not visible to the naked eye, but researchers can confirm its presence using telescopes.
In fact, astronomers had previously seen Neptune through telescopes since 1612, but had yet to identify it as a planet.
Neptune is the eighth planet from the Sun and the final planet in the solar system, since scientists downgraded Pluto from full planet status to become a dwarf planet in 2006.
Neptune Has Very Extreme Cold Temperatures
Neptune known as a giant ice planet that has extreme temperatures. It is known, the temperature in Neptune’s atmosphere is around minus 373 degrees Fahrenheit or minus 225 degrees Celsius.
It is farther from the sun than Uranus, but Neptune’s temperature is the same as that of its closest planet, Uranus.
Neptune radiates more than twice as much heat as it absorbs from the sun, similar to Jupiter and Saturn.
“The extra source of heat on Neptune (as well as Jupiter and Saturn) is largely due to gravitational contraction. As the planet slowly contracts gravitationally, material that falls on it converts its potential energy into heat energy, which is then released upwards from the planet,” Joshua said. Seasons on Neptune Last 40 Years
As well as being extremely cold, Neptune is also known to have the strongest winds in the solar system, which can reach 1,200 mph or 1,9301 km/h.
The seasons on Neptune are also long, i.e. they can be around 40 years each.
“I think Neptune itself is of great interest to many of us because we still know so little about it,” said Michael Roman, an astronomer at the University of Leicester in England.
“This all leads to a more complicated picture of Neptune’s atmosphere and how it changes over time.”
Neptune conditions
Meanwhile, Neptune as a whole is made up mostly of water, ammonia and methane and could supposedly hide “superhot” oceans under its cold clouds.
This planet does not have a solid surface, but has a solid core like Earth. Together with Uranus, Neptune is called the “ice giant”.
Neptune has 14 moons and at least five rings. Triton, Neptune’s largest moon, orbits in the opposite direction to the planet’s rotation.
This reversed orbit indicates that Triton was not always paired with Neptuneand scientists think Triton was pulled into Neptune’s gravity from the Kuiper Belt millions of years ago.
