Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – 2021 has passed. Not an easy year, because the corona virus pandemic (Coronavirus Disease-2019/Covid-19) is still spreading terror. But that does not mean that 2021 will not bring benefits.
In the financial market, there was an increase in the price of various assets. On the stock market, the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) rose 10.08% on a point-to-point.
Not only JCI, the United States (US) stock market also shot up. The S&P 500 index posted a 26.89% jump throughout 2021. This was the highest annual gain since 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic.
But if you want to find how, the commodity market is the place to be. In fact, 2021 is arguably the year of commodities.
For oil, brent prices throughout 2021 jumped 50.15%. This is the highest annual increase since 2016.
Meanwhile, the price of light sweet oil or West Texas Intermediate (WTI) soared 55.01% throughout 2021. This was the highest annual increase on record since 2009.
