A man in Situbondo viral for refusing to close the mosque during the implementation of the emergency PPKM. The action was recognized by the man as an act of spontaneity.
The man is M Kholil, an advocate from Mangaran, Situbondo. Kholil, who is also the chairman of the DPC Indonesian Advocates Congress (KAI) Situbondo, admitted that he made the viral video in response to the circulation of a circular letter from the Regional Secretary, one of the points of which was the closure of mosques.
“Yes. It was a spontaneous reaction and my response to the circular dated July 2, 2021, specifically point 4,” explained Kholil when confirmed by detikcom, Monday (5/7/2021).
Kholil explained, he actually really agrees with the implementation Emergency PPKM because this pandemic is getting crazier lately. But there was only one point in the circular that he disagreed with.
“Only, in the fourth point circular, I strongly objected. Because mosques do not have a major contribution to the transmission and spread of COVID-19, especially in Situbondo,” said Kholil.

“We, the Muslims of Mangaran Sub-district, Situbondo Regency declare that we reject and oppose the letter from the Situbondo Regency Secretary dated July 2, 2021, especially number 4 which states the closure of the mosque.
