Sembalun, East Lombok (ANTARA) – The black car, numbered DR1841AN, driven by Drs Ayup (52), a resident of Gunung Ripin Hamlet, Bara Village, Bali, Batu Kliang District, Central Lombok, plunged into a 30-meter-deep ravine, to be exact on the Pusuk Sembalun tourist route, District Sembalun, East Lombok, Sunday (3/10).
The incident began when the car was about to go home after a trip with his family in Sembalun. Suddenly experiencing problems in the brakes, the condition of the road that declined sharply and the winding route made the driver unable to control his vehicle. As a result, the fatal accident was unavoidable.
“At first glance, I saw that the car from the parking lot of Pusuk Sembalun was about to return from the direction of Sembalun. Suddenly he hit a coffee shop and a sports selfie near me,” said Maemunah, an eye witness.

Luckily when it happened, he continued. there are no motorbikes, cars and people who are victims. Because the shop owner was burning trash, he and his friends admitted that they were in shock.
“I am pretentious about the incident, especially my friends. And fortunately at the time of the incident the visitors were quiet because it was late in the afternoon, if only during the day when tourists were busy visiting. I can’t imagine so many tourists resting and taking photos,” said Maemunah .
As a result of the incident, the driver died on the way to the Sembalun Health Center. Meanwhile, the victim’s wife (passenger), Mahimi (52) suffered facial injuries and was treated by the local health center medical team and then referred to the Selong Hospital.
The victim’s family, Aipda Tatang Juniawan explained, before the incident. He along with the victim and his extended family traveled to Sembalun with a group of five cars, not together. At that time the victim’s car went first, while the other car had stopped below.
“We were not together, because his car went first and we stopped at the bottom,” said Aipda Tatang Juniawan, when confirmed in Sembalun.
The victim had stopped at Pusuk, said Tatang further. To buy a pentol (Cilok), previously there were four passengers in the car and the victim, namely. His wife and two children, while their two children are no longer with the victim.
“As soon as he arrived at Pusuk, the deceased had stopped to buy a pentol. Fortunately, his two children were not in the car of the deceased, his two children were in my cousin’s car,” explained Tatang.
“It was a single pure accident, no collision or crash,” added Tatang.
Meanwhile, the Sembalun Police Chief through the Head of the Sabara Headquarters, Bripka Ida Bagus Tatur confirmed the incident at around 16.15 WITA.
“We got information from one of the Pusuk tour operators at around 16.15 WITA. That a car fell into a cliff,” said Bagus.
As soon as he received the information, he and the members of the Sembalun Sector Police went directly to the crime scene to identify the incident. Until this news was revealed the cause of the incident was not known for sure.
“For the time being, we don’t know the cause. What is certain is that one victim died on the way to the Sembalun Health Center,” said Bagus.
