JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – A crowd on behalf of students raided the DPP office of the Democrat Party, on Jalan Proklamasi, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday (15/3/2021) night.

They demanded that the General Chairperson of the Democratic Party’s DPP, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, clarify his statement regarding the support from student groups for the party.

According to the masses, students should not be involved in chaotic political parties.

The crowd, totaling 30 people, met with the Head of the Strategic Communications Board of the Democratic Party’s DPP, Herzaky Mahendra Putra. The two sides had a dialogue.

Herzaky explained that AHY had indeed held a meeting with students at the DPP Democrat office this Monday afternoon. The students expressed their support to AHY for the internal chaos that has plagued the party bearing the mercy symbol.

Then he showed that the people who gave speeches supporting AHY were indeed students from 10 universities in the Greater Jakarta area.

Even though they had received an explanation, the masses still continued their actions and were reluctant to disperse.

The crowd finally dispersed at 20.30 WIB after the police deployed armed Brimob troops.

The Brimob troops were deployed because the crowd held a demonstration without permission and had the potential to violate the Covid-19 pandemic health protocol.

“In accordance with Law Number 9 of 1998 concerning Freedom to Express Opinions in Public, they violated it because it was implemented at night, especially when there is currently Covid-19,” said Central Jakarta Police Chief Commissioner Pol Hengki Haryadi when met at the location on Monday. night.
