In response to this, the health influencer and volunteer doctor for COVID-19, Muhamad Fajri Adda’i, tried to provide an explanation.
“When we talk about mushrooms, there are many types; white, yellow, black, and others. The point is that this fungus is troublesome. This happens to COVID-19 patients whose condition is severe. The more severe the condition of the Covid-19 patient, the higher the use of steroids,” said Dr. Fajri when contacted MNC Portal via short message, Wednesday 2 June 2021.
He explained that the steroid is an immunosuppressant and it is used daily. Steroid studies are good in life threatening (severe) patients.
Meanwhile in India conditions are in chaos, and hospitals are also overwhelmed. The condition of patients who are seriously ill is also a lot, meaning that the use of steroids is getting higher.
“So their immunity is really suppressed, just like people with HIV. There are many fungi that actually have strong immunity, but because of an infection that occurs because something has changed from normal conditions, such as a suppressed immune system, so there are other fungi that appear that appear. should not infect, instead it will infect,” he continued.

Doctor Fajri confirmed that the Covid-19 outbreak in India was due to poor control of infection in various places. This condition causes the health system to become overloaded, the patient becomes seriously ill, and the use of steroids increases.
“The more patients wash their hands, the more difficult it becomes. The cleanliness of hospitals and health facilities is also very limited. There the patient’s condition is seriously ill. With Covid-19, the lungs are damaged. Second, usually there is also infection from bacteria. Third, it is added with mushrooms, so the conditions in India are getting more severe. All these risks are related, and Indonesia must not be like that, “he concluded.
