The Jeep Avenger is the Car of the Year. This was just announced at the Brussels Motor Show. With a score of 328 points, the Jeep finished ahead of other brands such as Volkswagen and Nissan. Mobility expert Brecht Vanhaelewyn tells you how much the car costs and what you can expect from it.
The Car of the Year is Europe’s most prestigious car award. It’s a title for which specialist journalists from dozens of European media put their heads together with one goal: to award the best, most interesting new car of the year. This year, the award ceremony took place for the first time at the Brussels Motor Show.
For 2023, the Jeep Avenger can call itself the Car of the Year. With a score of 328 points, it preceded the Volkswagen ID.Buzz (241 points) and the Nissan Ariya (211). The twin Toyota bZ4X / Subaru Solterra, plagued by problems at launch, has the red lantern in this election with just 133 points.

According to car expert Brecht Vanhaelewyn, the Jeep Avenger should secure the European future of the iconic 4×4 brand. “The model was developed with our Old Continent in mind: compact dimensions and with a platform borrowed from Stellantis brother Peugeot (used there for the 208). It is therefore very compact for a Jeep: barely 4.1 meters long. It is initially available with an electric motor of 156 hp and 260 Nm, promises almost 400 km of autonomy and will be for sale in our country from 36,000 euros.” Detail: there will also be a much cheaper version with a petrol engine on the market. “But it will not appear in our catalog.”
