October 25 is the date agreed by the Public Health Commission to start giving a souvenir from pfizer to the general population over 70 years of age who have completed the guideline at least six months ago, although Andalusia is a few days ahead.
Those over 70 years of age have been the next profiled in the vaccination strategy to receive an extra shot against covid, after those over residences and groups of group 7 (Severe immunosuppressed by transplantation, some cancer patients, kidney patients on hemodialysis or people with Down syndrome over 40, among others).
At a time when the evolution of the flu epidemic, which last year was non-existent, is an unknown for experts, many of the autonomies have been betting on joint vaccination, something that the aforementioned strategy allows them.
For over 65s
In fact, the latest update published last Tuesday, points out that the anticovid vaccine can be administered at the same time, in different anatomical places, than any other, also that of pneumococcus or that of diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (dTpa).
The flu is advised for those over 65, minors of that age with a high risk of complications derived from the virus or who are institutionalized for a long time; pregnant women in any trimester of gestation and women during the puerperium (up to 6 months after delivery and not vaccinated during pregnancy) and babies 6 months to 2 years with a history of prematurity less than 32 weeks’ gestation.
Also for people who can transmit the flu to those who have a high risk of presenting complications such as health workers.
For now, only those over 70 can have both vaccines, although the calendar and dates differ according to which community.
Andalusia
It began last Monday to administer the additional dose to those over 70 years of age, an initiative that has coincided with that of the flu that was previously launched for immunosuppressed patients and in nursing homes. Andalusia began to inoculate the flu vaccine on October 15 to people in nursing homes and disability centers, and on Monday it extended it to the rest of the groups for which it is recommended.
Aragon
On Monday, the flu vaccination process begins in nursing homes, after which the agendas for self-appointment for the following age groups and sectors will be opened gradually and depending on the availability of doses. that due to health risks or characteristics of their profession it is recommended to be immunized against this virus. Asturias
It will not announce until next week the start date of the flu vaccination campaign; foresees joint inoculation for people over 70 years of age, although it can be done on the same day or at different times.
Baleares
The Balearic Health Service, Ib-Salut will put together the vaccines between November 4 and 21. The Infovacuna line has already begun to call those who will reach or have reached the age of 70 in 2021 and those over this age to vaccinate them. People of this age group can also go to health centers to make an appointment to receive injections at the same time. As for the usual flu campaign, it will begin on November 22 and will last until December 17.
Canary Islands
