Epidemiologist from Australia’s Griffith University, Dicky Budiman explained, the cause of the recent increasing trend of Corona cases in Indonesia, must be seen going back two weeks. Because, transmission of the corona virus to someone most likely occurred within the last two weeks.

“Actually, it must be understood that this transmission has occurred back two weeks, at least that is the trigger or cause of infection cases. Now this infection case means the cluster must be traced,” said Dicky when confirmed, Sunday (27/9 / 2020).

“So, there shouldn’t be cases where we don’t know the cluster. As long as we don’t know the cluster, that means we will fail to curb the increasing trend of COVID-19 cases,” he added. Allegedly, most Indonesians infected with the Corona virus have no known source of transmission. Therefore, Dicky requested that every person infected with the corona virus, be investigated for the source of the transmission.

Another thing that also needs to be confirmed in finding the cause of the spike in corona cases, said Dicky, is increasing the coverage of testing. However, Dicky emphasized, testing coverage is not sufficient only in DKI Jakarta. “The coverage of this testing is also not sufficient in only one or two areas. It must be comprehensive,” he added

According to him, as long as there are areas with inadequate testing coverage, Indonesia still has the potential to experience a higher spike in Covid-19 cases. This is because the area has the potential to become an undetected COVID-19 cluster.

“As long as the testing coverage is not carried out in all regions, it means that regions that do not carry out adequate testing coverage, these areas contribute not only to an increase in cases in their region, but to an increase in cases in other areas.
