According to Kiev, the Soviet-made missile was equipped with a non-explosive warhead only when fired by Moscow’s troops with the aim of depleting the missile stocks of Ukraine’s air defense system.
Fragments of the X-55 missile were found in two areas of western Ukraine.
“The missiles were launched to deplete our country’s air defense systems,” said a Ukrainian official BBCFriday (2/12/2022).

The official said the missile fragments showed no abnormal levels of radioactivity.
Ukrainian military experts say Russia may have significantly depleted its missile arsenal after carrying out wave upon wave of massive attacks against critical Ukrainian infrastructure in recent weeks.
According to them, Moscow is now using blunt bullets which are still wreaking havoc. A November British intelligence report also came to the same conclusion.
Russia, which has launched a major invasion of Ukraine since Feb. 24, has not made public comments on the matter.
