As part of one of the few projects remaining to complete the entire World Trade Center New York complex, which has already completed One World Trade Center, 3 World Trade Center, 4 World Trade Center, the 9/11 Memorial, the Oculus shopping and transportation hub and the new St. Nicholas Greek Church, in September 2023, barring changes, opens the Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC)the new center for the arts in New York.
The new New York Center for the Arts will help redefine Lower Manhattan as a cultural destination, with its 12,000 square meters spread over several levels.
The performance space will offer flexible layouts in three spaces that can be combined to provide multiple seating configurations, allowing for theater, dance, music, opera and film options, accommodating from 100 to 1,200 people.
The place will also have a lobby level with a bar, cafeteria, terrace and stage open to the public.
The second floor will consist of rehearsal rooms and dressing rooms for actors and singers, and the third floor will house the three theaters, which are designed so that the walls can rotate and expand to provide additional space for a single theater if necessary.
The complexity of its interior is hidden by its simple cubic marble façade, which evolves over time: by day, an elegant cream-colored amber stone boldly fluted; at night, it glows amber from within.
The plan for this center facing One World Trade Center was originally created nearly two decades ago as part of the 2003 Master Plan to redevelop the area.
The new museum of arts in New York was named after billionaire Ronald Perelman, who donated 75 million dollars for its construction (whose total amount would be close to 275 million dollars), works that began in August 2017, with the plans for completion in September 2023.
The images in this article were taken by Norberto Sica at the beginning of March of this year, showing the façade practically finished and only subtracting the details in the entrance lobby and inside the complex.
