Joe Biden was born on November 20, 1942 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. In 1968, Biden graduated from Syracuse University law school. In 1970, Joe Biden developed active membership in the Democratic Party and was elected to the New Castle County Council. At the age of 29, he represented the state of Delaware in the United States Senate until he assumed the vice presidency in 2009. Biden served as chair of the judicial committee for eight years. From 2009 to 2017, Biden served as vice president under Barack Obama and was instrumental in supporting the president’s course on domestic and foreign policy. In 2012, Biden made national headlines when he clearly allowed himself gay marriages in the United States. In January 2017, Biden was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction, the highest civilian honor in the United States. In January 2021 Biden will become the 46th President of the United States. In 1966, Biden married his high school sweetheart, Neilia Hunter. He has three children from marriage: Joseph Robinette “Beau” Biden III, Robert Hunter Biden and Naomi. 1-year-old Naomi and Biden’s wife died in a car accident in 1972. Children survive injured. In 1977, Biden married Jill Tracy Jacobs, with whom he had a daughter, Ashley.
