How to use Shazam from the control panel
Apple took over Shazam three years ago and has now integrated the music recognition service into iOS. You no longer have to download the app to find out the title of that nice song in the pub. You should Shazam first add it to the control panel. You do that like this:
- Go to settings and open the control panel;
- Scroll to ‘Music recognition’ and click on the plus sign;
- If you now swipe up on the home screen of your iPhone, you will see the Shazam symbol in your control panel.
Shazam does not listen in by default. That could be a privacy issue and drains your battery unnecessarily. To find out what music you’re listening to, click the Shazam logo in the control panel. Typically, title and artist appear at the top of the screen within seconds. If you swipe down, you will see the album cover. You can listen to the song directly with Apple Music.
You can Siri also still ask to identify a song. You just have to say, “Hey Siri, Shazam”. If you’re not a fan of Apple’s voice assistant, however, this is a nice alternative.
