Spotify is one of the most widely used music streaming services in the world. The service has apps for mobile and countless other platforms, including cars, as well as for your desktop. Whether you use a PC or Mac, Spotify has a dedicated application for you. The differences are often only in the layout and that is why we have split this workshop into two parts.
1. Your friends on Spotify
The great thing about Spotify’s desktop application is that you can do a lot more with the friends you follow through the music streaming service. This makes it possible to share your own listening activity and view that of your friends. This is only possible in the desktop app, because there is simply no room for it on your smartphone. Spotify has brought its desktop application completely in line with the mobile app in recent years, so there are few differences. Are you tired of your friends’ activity or do you not like their taste in music? Then this workshop can help you.
“Don’t want to know what your friends are listening to? Then this button is for you.”
2. For Windows Users
If you are using a Windows computer, this is the step to follow. Open the Spotify app for your desktop. Click the in the top left corner three balls and choose the tab To display† In the menu that opens up, you can disable the activity of your friends.
3. For Mac Users
Open the Spotify app on your Mac. If you don’t have it yet, you can download it from the Mac App Store or the website. If you have the app open, you will see your profile name at the top right. Click on the arrow to the right of that and choose the button Settings. Scroll here until you reach Display comes and switch the button Find out what your friends are listening to from.
4. Nice to know
Under Settings you will find the tab Social come across. Here too you can adjust a series of settings that may interest you. This way you can determine whether your listening activity is visible to friends. You can also choose to start a private session here. In addition, your activity is not shared and Spotify will not include your listening session in its algorithms. So do you want to listen to bad music with your friends for an evening via your Spotify account? Then avoid a Daily Mix that goes all the way to the buttons with this button.
