This year in particular, most of us have probably spent more time on our cell phones than usual. In the first and second lockdown, we hung around particularly often on Instagram, not only to get rid of the boredom in our own four walls, but also to stay connected with friends. What has probably annoyed as many as possible during this time are the many Instagramers and influencers who, despite the pandemic, have often pretended to be “perfect world”. This is where the so-called “muting” trend comes into play, which should induce us to clean up our profile more precisely and thus disconnect from all feeds that annoy us.
This is why the “muting” trend is so good for our mental state
Each of us has caught ourselves comparing. Instagram in particular ensures that we constantly see that others are having a supposedly nicer relationship, have a dreamlike apartment or a cooler job that we can be proud of. Then there are also external features: nicer profile photos, cooler clothes, the latest designer bags. Do you feel stressed when you see such things constantly? If you can answer this question very clearly with “yes”, this is not only completely normal, but also totally understandable. And this is exactly where the magic of “muting” comes in.
