This is how we strengthen children in Vietnam in their right to an education during the pandemic

The “Literacy Boost” program enables schools, parents and communities to better support the development of reading and writing skills in children. The aim of the program is to make reading lessons even more effective and to develop effective methods for promoting reading in and out of school.

Save the Children promotes the implementation of the comprehensive “Literacy Boost” approach in schools and at home through professional training for teachers and the provision of learning materials for teaching staff, carers and children, for example by means of self-produced learning videos. The videos were initially used in training courses for teachers in six provinces and cities in Vietnam in the second half of 2021. Videos are also currently being developed for caregivers. When completed later this year, these videos will be used in training courses for parents and relevant parent groups at all locations participating in the Literacy Boost program.

The sustainability of the project is very important to us. Save the Children therefore promotes the exchange of best practices in the implementation of “Literacy Boost” strategies within the framework of various learning initiatives at school level and in the professional development of teachers as well as in parenting clubs and reading clubs run by children. The aim is to further increase the effectiveness of our ongoing educational projects in Hai Phong and other project locations in Vietnam.
