(CNN Español) — Since the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized the emergency use of vaccines from Pfizer / BioNTech, Modern and Johnson & Johnson Single Dose, more than 301 million doses of covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the country, according to Johns Hopkins University.
President Joe Biden made good on his promise to administer 200 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in his first 100 days in office. Administered doses peaked at more than 3 million per day in April.
The FDA then expanded the authorization for emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine in adolescents ages 12-15 and also expanded eligibility so that all US residents could be vaccinated. However, a county-level review of the country by CNN shows that an effort still needs to be made in many communities to reach the goal of herd immunity.
America is uphill to reach another goal
President Biden set a goal on May 4 to administer at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to the 70% of the country’s adult population and getting 160 million American adults fully vaccinated by July 4.
“We’re going to make it easier than ever to get vaccinated”, said biden.
“Two months from now… families across the country are going to celebrate the 4th of July. Our goal, by July 4, is for 70% of adult Americans to have at least one vaccine and for at least 160 million Americans to be fully vaccinated. “
