Tom Brady is back in the NFL! Not on the field, however, but in the stands.
The former star quarterback of the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers celebrated his official NFL debut as a TV expert for “FOX Sports”.
Brady’s debut occurred in the game between the Cleveland Browns and the Dallas Cowboys, which the team led by the new NFL record earner Dak Prescott won 33-17.
But in the USA, despite the Prescott deal, all eyes were on Brady. “You’re a TV expert, how does that sound?” Brady’s colleague Kevin Burkhardt introduced the seven-time Super Bowl champion.
“Here we are, it’s been a long journey,” Brady replied, “I look forward to being your partner.”

Stuttering start for Brady
But like many rookie players on the field, Brady’s debut was a bit stuttering. As “USA Today” reports, Brady repeatedly had problems with his rhythm at the beginning – sometimes he spoke in a choppy manner. In addition, there were apparently more and more moments in which nothing was said for a long time.
A somewhat awkward fist pump between Brady and FOX Sports rules analyst Mike Pereira – “Don’t let me down” – summed up the first half.

Tom Brady “is only human”
But as the episode progressed, the “GOAT” seemed to have found his rhythm. His statements became more insightful and engaging. He even reminded viewers himself that he’s “still a rookie in here” – many NFL fans pointed out that Brady still has a lot of room for improvement.
“Tom Brady is visibly nervous in his debut as an announcer. It’s funny to remember that the greatest quarterback of all time is still human at the end of the day,” wrote one user on “X”.
At the end of the game, Brady explained the difference between life as a player and life as a TV pundit: “I’ve used my arm and my body for so many years. Now I come into a stadium and I can use my voice… As Michael Strahan told me before the game, you’re going to wake up tomorrow on Monday morning and you’re not going to be in pain. I’m happy about that.”
“Brady can’t form sentences with rhythm”
Brady will also be happy about his paycheck. The 47-year-old’s TV contract is said to last for ten years and will earn around $375 million.
But he still has to put up with criticism from some NFL fans. “Maybe someone should have listened to Brady speak before putting $300 million on the table for him,” said one “X” user. “Brady apparently can’t form sentences that have a normal rhythm,” criticized another.
The former top playmaker’s performance was criticized extensively. “Tom Brady just said that it’s hard to gain ten yards, but it’s even harder to gain 20 yards. That’s probably what an analysis worth $375 million tells you,” read “X”.

Brady’s classic rookie debut
But there were also more positive reactions. “Personally, I would like to see more enthusiasm, humor and personality. He lacks that at the moment, but I’ve heard how committed he is to the job and I have no doubt that he will get more into his stride halfway through the season,” one user said of the TV expert.
“I like Tom Brady in the commentary booth. He’s smart. He doesn’t put pressure on anyone or shout with false enthusiasm. He lets Kevin talk and then steps in when necessary. Simple, intelligent statements. Just my opinion,” wrote Jane Slater of the NFL Network.
Brady’s debut was a typical rookie debut. But it shows that the former star quarterback still has a lot of room for improvement. And as we know Brady, he will do everything he can to get the best out of himself.
