The monkey pox virus probably spread to our country via Darklands, a gay fetish festival that took place in Antwerp earlier this month. The organization reports on this via its website.

“There are reasons to believe that the virus was brought by visitors to the festival from abroad”, can we read. The Belga press agency has learned from a good source that at least one contamination in our country can be attributed to the Darklands.
The Federal Government’s Risk Assessment Group (GER) has therefore asked the festival organization to inform visitors about the contamination in our country. They ask to remain vigilant, as the virus has an incubation period of up to 21 days. Anyone with symptoms or suspected infection should go to the emergency room as soon as possible.
“Follow these recommendations and comply with the regulations of the authorities in your country,” the organization says.
This year, Darklands took place from May 4 to 9 in Antwerp. The festival is considered one of the biggest gay fetish festivals in the world.
