This is how the podcast “Gemischtes Hack” continues

“Gemischtes Hack”, one of the most successful podcasts in Germany, is back from its summer break. It was a three-month break: On the night of June 19, 2024, the last episode of the podcast for a long time was released, in which comedian Felix Lobrecht talks to presenter Tommi Schmitt week after week. According to the makers, “Gemischtes Hack” was the most listened to podcast in Germany for the fifth time in a row in 2023.

Gemischtes Hack after the summer break 2024: This is how it continues

The first episode after the summer break was released on the night of September 18th. It is entitled “ICH LIEBE KNÖPFE”. And the two hosts had a few new things to announce: Gemischtes Hack is becoming a video podcast. There is the option of seeing the presenters in the video in addition to the audio stream – but if you want, you can still only listen to the podcast on the audio track. In addition, the podcast, which previously only appeared on Spotify, will now also be available on other platforms. Spotify is changing its strategy here: Until now, Gemischtes Hack – like Fest und Flauschig by Jan Böhmermann and Olli Schulz – was a “Spotify Exclusive” podcast that could only be heard on its own platform. Both “Gemischtes Hack” and “Fest und Flauschig” will now also be available outside of Spotify. The company is hoping to generate a greater reach and thus more advertising revenue.

Another piece of news is more of a content-related one: the podcasters now live in the same city. Tommi Schmitt, who previously lived in Cologne, has moved to Berlin, as he explained in the new episode. Good for the video podcast: the two presenters now want to record together in the same room more often – until now they were almost always connected from Cologne and Berlin.

How long is the summer break for Gemischtes Hack?

“Gemischtes Hack” has been around since 2017, and has been released under the Spotify umbrella since 2019. Felix Lobrecht and Tommi Schmitt have also taken a summer break in recent years, and in the past three years this lasted 11 to 12 weeks:

In 2023, the summer break lasted from June 28 to September 13 (11 weeks)
  • In 2022, the summer break lasted from June 22 to September 7 (11 weeks)
  • In 2021, the summer break lasted from June 9 to September 1 (12 weeks)

In 2024, the break lasted from June 19 to September 18, 13 weeks – longer than last time. But at least Tommi Schmitt could be heard regularly again since August 27: That’s when the second season of his football podcast “Copa TS” started.
