Due to the pandemic, the tourism in Andalusia has suffered a historic decline due to restrictions and the lack of travelers in the community. For this reason, the Andalusian tourism sector is living an almost unprecedented situation and that is forcing it to draw strength from weakness to recover from the setback that the Covid-19. To try to attract foreign tourism again, the Junta de Andalucía has launched a International Insurance to ensure maximum safety when traveling to the Andalusian community.
In this way, Juanma Moreno, President of the Junta de Andalucía, has made a free insurance with Covid-19 coverage available to international tourism to cover stays in any type of regulated establishment in Andalusia between January 1 and December 31, 2021. Thus, The Board intends to offer maximum normality and security, within the restrictions that remain imposed now that the third wave of the Coronavirus is almost over.
What is the International Travel Insurance of the Junta de Andalucía?
In 2020 we believed that nothing could get worse, however, in 2021 things have hardly changed at all and the health situation remains the same or worse than we were. Despite this, the Junta de Andalucía has the obligation to encourage safe tourism in Andalusia with the maximum possible security. The objective is none other than to attract foreign tourists to come to Andalusia in complete safety and for this, the following facilities have been offered:
Medical, surgical and hospital expenses
This insurance covers the expenses in case of having some type of medical complication in Andalusia or having symptoms of Covid-19. In these cases, the Junta de Andalucía covers the following expenses for tourists arriving in the Andalusian community with the International Travel Insurance:
- Medical and surgical expenses and fees
- Pharmaceutical expenses related to convalescence from COVID.
- Hospitalization expenses.
- This is where both the patient’s stay and those of his companions enter.
Medical expenses for transportation and repatriation
In case we need to cover medical expenses for transportation or repatriation. These expenses are also covered by the Junta de Andalucía in case one of the travelers has caught Covid-19:
- The ambulance or transportation expenses of the patient from the place of first diagnosis to the hospital center prescribed by the attending physician.
- Return costs to the vacation spot from the hospital where you have been treated.
- Repatriation by plane health if the urgency or severity of the case requires it (only for Europe and Mediterranean Riparian Countries). For passengers with another origin, a regular medicalized line will be used.
Repatriation
In the situation that the affected tourist has missed the flight to his country due to Covid-19, this insurance covers the repatriation of the patient and his family to the country of origin. These return tickets will be managed by an insurance company that will be in charge of processing the flight date. In the event that the injured parties are minors or people with disabilities, a person will be made available to them who will assume responsibility for accompanying the patient to the place of residence or hospitalization.
Repatriation of deceased by Covid-19
In the hypothetical case that one dies while tourism in Andalusia, this insurance covers the necessary procedures to be carried out at the place of death of the client. In this way, the expenses of the companions until the place of burial would be paid, leaving the rights of the return tickets subrogated to the insurance company.
As in the cases of repatriation, in the event that the insured were minors or people with disabilities, without a trusted person, a person will be made available to them who will assume responsibility for the accompaniment to the place of residence or hospitalization of the sick.
Expenses for extending your stay in Andalusia
It is possible that due to restrictions it is impossible to leave Andalusia, so this insurance covers the costs of the time we have to be in the hotel waiting for the borders to reopen. All this for free.
