This is how the hunter’s full moon lit up the sky – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – The hunter’s full moon shone brightly on Sunday, October 9, and our area residents have witnessed it. This moon is so named because it offers easy visibility for hunting and temperatures begin to drop, welcoming winter.

The hunter’s moon is also known as the travel moon or dying grass moon, in which Native Americans associated the changing color of leaves and plant wilt with the onset of autumn.

Check out the October Celestial Calendar here which will give New Yorkers plenty of reasons to look up and admire the sky.
