The National Security Council, which is being held this Thursday morning, from 9 am, will not bring good news to the Belgians. No question of continuing to relax measures. The authorities will, on the contrary, tighten the screw. This will concern the wearing of the mask, but also the hospitality industry and possible local reconfigurations.

Phase 5 of the easing measures, which the National Security Council (CNS) was initially supposed to discuss this morning, is “buried” until further notice. New easing measures, already rescheduled last week, should be again this time: increase, for example, the maximum number of participants in official events (village festivals, sports competitions, etc.) from 200 to 400 to inside, from 400 to 800 outside, it will be postponed.
Wearing the mask
Conversely, the CNS should announce again more restrictive measures. They would revolve around the wearing of a mask, the closing time of the Horeca sector, or even the restriction of the contact bubble (going from 15 to 10 different people to see per week), even if this last measure has not was mentioned yesterday in the preparatory meetings.
According to our sources, wearing a mask could be taxed in cafes and restaurants as soon as you leave your table (entering and leaving the place, even to go to smoke, travel to the toilets, etc.). As in Luxembourg and as was planned when the Horeca reopened. But it must be recognized that the places which enforce this measure are rather rare.
► Another measure related to Horeca, the possible closure an hour earlier, at midnight.
► Also on the table, wearing a mask “in places accessible to the public”.
