In 1947 a smallpox epidemic forced vaccinate the entire population of New York. More of six and a half million people they were vaccinated in a month. An unprecedented milestone in the history of epidemic control.
New York was clear that it had a crisis on its hands that could bring down the city and put all the possible resources in the homework. Vaccination centers were installed in the 21 health centers of the city, in 13 public hospitals and in 60 pediatric centers. Everyone open 24 hours of the day for non-stop vaccination.
