This is how much you will get on hand after the record valorization of the pension – the rate. When is thirteen 2023?

According to the data of the Central Statistical Office, only 40% of Polish pensioners assess their financial situation as satisfactory. It is possible that the next results of GUS surveys will look different. After the amendment to the Act, pension payments in 2023 are to increase by 13.8 percent, which would mean that the lowest pension in 2023 will amount to PLN 1,558.44. According to the data of the Central Statistical Office (GUS), which was published on January 13, the indexation will be even higher and will amount to no less than 14.8 percent. How much will pensioners get and how much will pensions increase? We provide calculations and compare them to the amount of last year’s benefits.

It is worth noting that the indexation of pensions in 2023 is to take place on a percentage-amount basis. This means that from March 1, benefits from the minimum pension amount to approx. PLN 1,810 are to increase in amount – by PLN 250 per month. Pensions lower than the minimum and higher than PLN 1,800 gross will be subject to a percentage increase.

Did you know that after the indexation of pensions in 2023, some beneficiaries will be forced to deduct tax from their pension? More information in the article below!

The indexation index must compensate for at least the average annual inflation from the previous year – such a provision was included in the Act on old-age and disability pensions from the Social Insurance Fund (FUS). At the end of 2022, inflation was 14.4%. This means that the government-approved indexation of 13.8% must be higher. Let us remind you that the 2023 budget also guaranteed funds for the payment of the 13th pension. “An additional annual cash benefit in the form of the 13th pension will be paid to pensioners together with the benefits paid for April of a given year. In the case of pre-retirement benefits and allowances, the 13th will be paid in May together with these benefits” – we read on infor.pl.

14.8 percent – this is the inflation rate for households of retirees and pensioners in 2022 and at least this is the amount pensions must be indexed in 2023.

The government announces that the “fourteen” will be paid. For this to happen, an appropriate act must first be passed, guaranteeing the payment of an additional retirement benefit. For the time being, it is not known whether it will be a one-time payment only in 2023, or – as Jarosław Kaczyński announced – the legal regulation is to guarantee permanent, annual payments of the “fourteen” to pensioners.

While high inflation at the end of 2022 will not affect pensions indexed in terms of amounts, it will affect benefits indexed in percentage – and yes.

In the gallery, we present calculations of pensions “in hand” after indexation of 14.8 percent. This is how much pensions can be from March 1!

Important: The actual pension indexation index will be known by mid-February and will be made public after the Central Statistical Office publishes the real values of inflation and wage growth in 2022.
