This is how much more you will pay for your additional health insurance policy | Money

Comparison site Pricewise made a number of calculations for common care profiles.

Over 60s

Two over-60s who want to take out additional insurance for physiotherapy (9 treatments pp) and dental costs (max € 500 100% fee pp) together will pay no less than € 235.32 more, or € 118 per person.

They also opt more often for a reimbursement policy (free choice of doctor) and then pay an average of € 86.40 more.

For a family of a single parent with one teenager who wants to insure themselves for dentist and orthodontics, the price increase is not too bad: only € 27.60 on an annual basis. A couple with young children who want to insure themselves for a dentist (up to € 250, 75% reimbursement) and physiotherapy (6 treatments) will pay € 60 more in 2021.

Price difference

This price increase can be offset when opting for basic insurance. The price difference between the cheapest policy and the most expensive policy is no less than € 504 on an annual basis. This while every insured person receives the same cover: it is politics that decides what is reimbursed from the basic insurance.

You can also save on additional policies. “We see that people often go for additional dental insurance that covers 100% of the costs. It pays to look for insurance that covers most treatments 100% and some 75%. This can save you about ten euros a month, ”says Suzanne Löwik, health insurance expert at Pricewise.

Dentist

And those who have only gone to the dentist for a check-up for years can better skip coverage. Additional insurance for physiotherapy pays off sooner, because you rarely finish with one treatment. However, policies with unlimited cover will become considerably more expensive next year.

Löwik: “The most advantageous option for a family with children is to insure the children on the policy of the parent with the most comprehensive cover. And that the parents then only insure themselves for the care they need. This prevents both parents from paying premium for their child’s braces. “

A single person who opts for a simple basic insurance policy with the highest deductible is the cheapest: this is possible from € 85.95 per month. This means that this person will pay € 32.40 more than in 2020.
