This is how much hackers have earned on crypto-scams

According to a new compilation from the analysis company Chainalysis The hackers behind this year’s crypto-fraud have withdrawn SEK 70 billion.

Compared with last year, this is an increase of 81 percent. A large part of the fraud is caused by so-called rug pulls, a fraud that involves deceiving the victims to invest in new cryptocurrencies at a favorable price and then take the money and disappear.

An interesting detail from the survey is that today’s frauds are going on for a shorter time compared to before. On average, each campaign lasts only 70 days, which is comparable to 291 days last year and 500 days five years ago.

The single largest campaign alone accounts for one-seventh of the total. At that time, most of the targets were in Russia and Ukraine.
