Before the first matchday of the new season, Rapid and Sturm also caused a stir off the pitch: Both clubs agreed to only charge a fan-friendly twelve euros for a ticket in the away section in direct duels this season (Read here >>>).
This means that both clubs are significantly below the ticket price cap for the away sector – and have signalled that they are also open to such agreements with other clubs.
How willing other clubs are to do this is 90minuten researched.
Bundesliga regulates
As is the number of tickets for away fans – at the request of the visiting club, they are entitled to ten percent of the tickets issued, taking into account the safety guidelines, which, however, is not always actually adhered to (Read more here >>>) – the pricing of tickets for the guest sector is also subject to the control of the Bundesliga.
In § 18 Admission Tickets, Point 2 of the “Game Operation Guidelines for the highest division of the Austrian Football Bundesliga” it says:
“The tickets made available to the visiting club may not exceed € 20 per ticket.”
This maximum price has been decided annually in advance by the clubs since 2017; in the 2022/23 season it was even reduced to 18 euros as a result of the corona pandemic in order to make visiting the stadium more attractive again; since then it has again been 20 euros for the ticket.
This upper limit also applies to the ADMIRAL 2nd League, where a ticket in the away sector may not be more expensive than a comparable ticket in the home sector (a requirement that would make little sense in the Bundesliga due to generally higher ticket prices).
