Masker and drag artist Aarni Mikkola shares more of his experiences after bariatric surgery. Mikkola had the operation in question in March in Tallinn.
The drag artist has shared a video on his Instagram account, at the beginning of which he steps into surgery in hospital clothes. In the next clip, he shows what he looks like five months later.
According to Mikkola, her clothing size before the operation was 3XL. Today, her clothing size is L.
– Huh, what a journey we’ve traveled so far. I can only say that one of the best decisions of my life, the makeup artist describes in the caption of his post.
– And above all, this feeling of well-being, he adds in the video.
At the end of the video, he wants to remind you that the operation itself does not remove pounds.
– In bariatric surgery, not a single gram of weight is removed, but the stomach is reduced. All results depend on you and your motivation, Mikkola writes.
– Surgery is not a shortcut to happiness, but the key to a healthier future for many who have struggled with their weight, he adds at the end.

Mikkola’s update gets a lot of praise in its comment field.
– An amazing transformation.
– Proud of your stubbornness and strong will. You wouldn’t do that otherwise, when there is no simsalapim magic. An absolutely amazing performance for a healthy life, I respect.
Someone asks Mikkola in the comment field if it has been strange for her to go clothes shopping, or if she instinctively tends to grab a size that is too big. Mikkola replies that he has not yet gone on a “big” clothes shopping spree.
– I try to avoid unnecessary purchases of intermediate sizes and now a couple of times I have bought a few pieces of clothing. When one’s own goal has been achieved, there is a decent wardrobe renewal ahead, says the drag artist.
– But it happened the first time that there wasn’t a small enough size of the lovely light shirt available, he adds.
Mikkola won The biggest loser in Finland program in 2020. During the program, he lost as much as 27 kilos. However, the weight returned when Mikkola started to be afraid to move as a result of a cruciate ligament injury. Then the doctor suggested to Mikkola a stomach reduction surgery.
