Nearly 24 hours after the decision of the Specialized Criminal Court, Dimitar Zhelyazkov-Mityo Ochite was transferred for treatment to the Military Medical Academy, reports “Flagship”.
The defendant was remanded in custody at Sofia Prison on February 27 with a remand in custody. Until yesterday, he was in a rather makeshift covid-ward at the prison hospital.
Following Zhelyazkov’s appeal, the court on Wednesday decided to move him “immediately” for treatment to the Military Medical Academy, where the director is the chairman of the National Operational Headquarters (NSS) for Combating Coronary Crisis, Major General Prof. Dr. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski.
Yesterday at noon Prof. Mutafchiiski did not know that he was being sent a VIP prisoner. After the regular press conference in the Council of Ministers (CoM), he explained that there was no information about Dimitar Zhelyazkov.
It turned out that at that moment Mityo Ochite had not yet been transferred to the Military Medical Academy. This happened in the late afternoon.
Dimitar Zhelyazkov has announced, as his lawyer quoted him, that he does not want to be placed in an external hospital unless his remand measure is changed and if he cannot choose where to be treated.
“If I’m destined to die, I don’t want to die tied up” was another argument of the Eyes, who feared that he would be handcuffed to the hospital bed again if sent out of prison.
In the Military Medical Academy he lies freely.
Another concern of his lawyer was how his client would be cared for if he was in a hospital outside prison.
No one will allow security guards a stone’s throw from the covid-compartment, explained the lawyer. Ilian Vassilev because of the strict isolation measures in the hospitals.
However, this problem has been solved. Mityo Ochite was closely guarded by two security guards from the General Directorate for the Execution of Sentences at the Ministry of Justice.
For this purpose, they were equipped with the protective clothing typical of the covid-compartments, which is quite unpleasant and annoying.
At the press conference in the Council of Ministers yesterday, Ventsislav Mutafchiiski announced that there were only five free covid beds in the Military Medical Academy due to the sharp growth of those treated in hospital. And this despite the newly discovered two covid-compartments there.
This suggests that Mityo Ochite is lying in a crowded room with other patients.
