This is how Meta AI works, the new feature in WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram

Asunción: Meta has launched its artificial intelligence-based assistant Meta AI in Latin America.

Now available on WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, the feature rivals the performance of large closed-loop AI models and adds new creative and image editing features.

Meta AI, Meta’s artificial intelligence assistant, can now be used on a variety of the company’s platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and Facebook, in addition to its dedicated website.

With the release of the Llama 3.1 405B update, Meta AI has improved its multilingual and reasoning capabilities, especially in areas such as mathematics and programming.

This new version of the assistant is available in seven languages, including Spanish, and has been expanded to more than 20 other countries, such as Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Cameroon and, of course, soon to be in Paraguay. Meta has introduced creative tools such as “Imagine me”, which allows you to create an image with the user as the protagonist using a text description, as well as new image editing options to add, modify or delete visual elements.

New tool for artificial intelligence

Llama 3.1 405B, with its 405 billion parameters, is considered the largest open source base model to date.

Designed to drive innovative workflows such as synthetic data generation and model distillation. This model rivals in performance with other advanced models such as GPT-4 and Claude 3.5 Sonnet and excels in general knowledge, mathematics, tool usage, and multilingual translation.

As part of its commitment to developing responsible AI, Meta has launched a reference system that includes Llama 3 Guard, a security model, and Prompt Guard, a prompt filter, both open source. For developers, Meta has made the Llama Stack available on GitHub, a set of interfaces that facilitate interoperability within the Meta AI ecosystem.

Meta-AI on WhatsApp

Its functionality is similar to others, such as ChatGPT, and allows users to create stickers and images, search for information, and ask questions. It should be noted that Meta AI is not only able to answer questions and provide useful information, but can also participate in conversations, make recommendations, spark debates, tell jokes, and teach new things.

Meta stressed that the chatbot works independently of the rest of the options to ensure user safety. In addition, the suggestions offered by Meta AI are randomly generated and do not react to previous interactions made in the application.
