Many citizens worry about the case of asymptomatic people in this period of coronavirus. “When are these people contagious and until when can they be carriers of the virus? ” Here are the two questions to which Emmanuel André tried to answer this Monday during the traditional press point on the situation of the Covid-19 in Belgium.
“Coronavirus infection, when it comes to someone having the virus, is comparable between people who have symptoms and those who don’t. So we know that asymptomatic people can have a lot of virus in their nose, in their mouth, and thus contribute to the spread of the virus, but less than symptomatic people who cough can excrete the virus much less in the environment. However, through the hands in particular, the virus can be transmitted to the environment. These people carry the virus for a week. And so for a week they can be a vector of transmission in the environment. After that, the virus disappears. “
