Actress Hannah Waddingham starred in a moment of empowerment and self-defense on the Olivier Awards red carpet.
During the event, a photographer made an inappropriate comment, and Waddingham did not hesitate to respond forcefully. The incident was captured on video and shared on social media.
While posing for photos, Waddingham stopped in front of a photographer and said: “My God, you would never say that to a man, my friend. Don’t be an idiot, otherwise I’ll leave. Don’t say: ‘Show me leg.’ No”.

The crowd responded with applause and cheers as Waddingham walked away wearing an elegant lilac dress. The star of the hit series “Ted Lasso” is no stranger to standing up for himself.
long story short: hannah was being her gorgeous self and the 📸 made some comment about her leg we couldn’t quite make out and… well, the video speaks for itself. This woman is a role model. Always, always call pricks out on their bullshit. pic.twitter.com/ybhxCo5FJ6

No more secondary roles
In an interview on Michelle Visage’s “Rule Breakers” podcast, Waddingham revealed how she decided to end supporting roles.
Thus he expressed: “So I told my agents at the time: ‘I’m not going to do it anymore… If it’s a scene, I’m not going to do it anymore, and you shouldn’t propose me because it’s insulting. I have been a protagonist for 22 years. I’m not going to do it anymore. “I’d rather be in a world where I’m appreciated.”
In addition to her brave response on the red carpet, Waddingham also stood out at the Olivier Awards as the event’s presenter.
The ceremony, celebrating the best of theater in the UK, took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Waddingham opened the show with an energetic performance of “Anything Goes.”
The big winner of the night was the musical “Sunset Boulevard,” which took home seven awards, including best actor in a musical for Tom Francis and best actress in a musical for Nicole Scherzinger.
Other notable awards included the Sir Peter Hall Award for director Jamie Lloyd, best musical revival, lighting design, outstanding musical contribution and sound design.
