Germany has announced plans for a new gas pipeline in Europe to provide additional supplies of the blue fuel. Chancellor Olaf Scholz has talked about a gas link that would run from Portugal through Spain and France.
Regarding the possibility of Germany completely stopping the amount of Russian gas it receives, Scholz said that when there were such concerns, the government took specific important decisions, Nova reported.
“I explicitly state that the European Union must go through these difficult times united and in solidarity. I also believe that we, as such a large country with the greatest economic power and the largest population in central Europe, have a special task. We have taken decisions that serve to improve our energy supply and also ensure that we create European infrastructures that facilitate mutual support,” he said.
