Many have been anxiously waiting for Twitter to reopen the doors of its verification system, and today they have.
After three years of waiting, users can now request to be verified on the social network. The white badge on your Twitter account is a mark of trustworthiness for some and jealousy for others.
The revamped system is slowly rolling out to all users, but Twitter has detailed how to request verification in a series of tweets.
What is verified Twitter?
It is an application process created by the company in 2009, so that users can know which profile is genuine and trustworthy. Over the years, for many it became more of a status symbol – having a badge next to their profile name as a form of authority.
Typically, a person in the following field would be approved to earn the much sought after badge:

As the years passed and the popularity of the social network grew, it became more challenging for the company to manually sift through thousands of applications to approve or reject account verifications. This led to the service being suspended, with only a few verified in the meantime.

Up to now. Twitter announced the news that the service is slowly rolling out to users, where you can request to be verified once again.
How to verify your Twitter account
Instead of going to a web page, it’s simply a matter of opening the Twitter app, navigating to your account settings, and there will soon be an additional option to verify your account.
This will ask for proof of identification to aid in the process, and once accepted, your verified badge should appear soon.
Dear “can you verify me?”: Save your tweets and direct messages, there is a new official way to request a blue badge, which will be implemented in the coming weeks.
