The chapel of the relatives of Dámaso López Núñez, alias “El Licenciado,” located in the Eldorado cemetery, west of Culiacán, was vandalized on the night of July 28. The bodies of Dámaso López García and Adolfo López Núñez, father and brother of the Sinaloa Cartel boss, were illegally removed from their graves.
Local media reported that the mausoleum was completely destroyed. The drawers were opened and the coffins were left empty.
Dámaso López García, former mayor of Eldorado elected in 2007, was accused in 2008 of alleged links to organized crime, which resulted in the seizure of a ranch and a luxurious residence in his name. López García died of a heart attack in 2008. Adolfo López Núñez, brother of “El Licenciado,” was murdered in his home in 2019 by armed men who shot him several times.
Dámaso López Núñez was arrested in 2017 for his alleged ties to the Sinaloa Cartel, with Eldorado being one of its areas of greatest influence. So far, no criminal group has claimed responsibility for the attack on the chapel and there have been no reports of ongoing investigations by the authorities.

According to preliminary reports, a group of unidentified individuals used heavy machinery, such as backhoes, to break down the doors of the two-storey mausoleum. These acts of vandalism included not only the destruction of the doors and windows of the mausoleum, but also the smashing of internal furnishings. Wood, glass and ceramic fragments were scattered around the entrance to the crypts.
Two months before these events, YouTuber Camilo Ochoa, who is also a former hitman for the Sinaloa Cartel, uploaded several videos to his YouTube channel, in which he visited the graves and chapels of Dámaso López Núñez’s family.
According to what he himself has revealed, Camilo Ochoa allegedly led the Mazatlán plaza and relied on authorities to confront Dámaso López Núñez. He says that, dressed as a sailor, Ochoa carried out operations to clean houses linked to “El Licenciado.” This institutional support allowed his faction to gain strength within the complex world of drug trafficking. The alliance continued until 2017, when Dámaso López was arrested, consolidating the rise of Los Chapitos in the cartel.
On May 13, 2024, Camilo Ochoa published a video in which he can be seen with his wife and two children under 10 years old touring the land of Dámaso López’s family.
“If I had money I would have hidden it here, there must be money, but I don’t understand, if they had had money “El Mini Lic” wouldn’t have asked for a loan of 5 million pesos when he went to the fucking panga,” Camilo Ochoa is heard saying in the clip, outside the now vandalized chapel.
During the visit, Ochoa meticulously described the chapel, highlighting features such as its two-story structure and the rooms it had: a kitchen, a hall, a bathroom. “This chapel is very big, it has two floors, it is white, it has a main entrance, it has a kitchen, a hall, it is like a small church… If the old man has money, he must have it here. All this is what they lost, what a pity,” said Ochoa while his family looked inside through the gaps of doors and windows.
He then asks his children if they want to go visit the part of the ranch where the houses were, to which both children shout in unison “yes.” That was the end of the first video, but two days later Ochoa uploaded a second clip.
In the second video, Ochoa’s family toured the ranch. Aboard their vehicle, they showed several abandoned houses with gunshot wounds. While exploring the property, they entered a guest house and his children asked him if the stains on the walls were blood, to which Ochoa replied: “They killed a lot of innocent people.”
The YouTuber also highlighted a palapa where both “El Licenciado” and “El Mini Lic” allegedly held parties, and other areas of the property where he hinted at illicit activities.
In the video, his wife also stops at some honey storage plates, and then Ochoa concluded the video with these words: “Licenciado Dámaso liked bee honey, and other people’s honey, because he also cleared ranches.”
Camilo Ochoa, who many accuse of working with “Los Chapitos,” has also had recent “clashes” in the world of YouTube against Ocran Leaks, a masked YouTuber known for uncovering rivalries within the Sinaloa Cartel and who is accused by Ochoa of actually being Dámaso López Serrano, “El Mini Lic.”
Ocran Leaks is believed to be “The Mini Lic.”
A few months ago, Ocran Leaks organized a vote to name his stuffed pet “Camilín,” in direct mockery of Ochoa. In response, Camilo recorded a video from a +Kota store, buying stuffed animals for his children and asking them what they should call them, which was interpreted as a further provocation towards Ocran.
Through their videos and interviews, both have launched mutual accusations. Ocran has claimed that Camilo is sponsored by “Los Chapitos,” while Camilo defends his autonomy and repeatedly points to the Dámaso López family as traitors.
The recent vandalism of the López Núñez mausoleum could be related to the conflict between Ochoa and Ocran Leaks, although to date there is no official confirmation to support this theory. Neither of them has made any statement on the matter.
