This is how Barça is planning its pre-season

FC Barcelona will start preparing for the 2021/22 season towards the end of the first half of July. The club has now publicly communicated the exact dates for the mandatory medical checks and the start of training. However, not all professionals will be present at the start of the preparation.

Training start on July 12th, before medical checks

The 2021/22 season is gradually casting its shadow at FC Barcelona. Not only because it is now clear that Ronald Koeman will remain FC Barcelona coach. And not only because with Eric Garcia, Emerson Royal and Sergio Agüero three newcomers have already been confirmed.

The club has now also announced when the preparation for the season, in which it should be something again with winning the championship and Champions League, will begin.

All those professionals who have not yet competed in the European Championship (Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Antoine Griezmann, Clement Lenglet, Ousmane Dembélé, Martin Braithwaite) or the Copa America (Lionel Messi, Ronald Araújo) are on duty, can relax and vacation, the next day Barça asks them to come back. The club has scheduled medical tests for July 9th and 10th.

After these checks, during which the participants have to complete endurance and strength exercises, there is a day off before on July 12th the start of training pending. Thus, the team will be able to prepare for the start of the competitive game for a month. The first matchday of the new season is set to take place in La Liga from August 13th to 16th.

National players will join the team later – test matches are not yet fixed

When exactly the national players will join the team depends entirely on the performance of their countries in the tournaments. Everyone will be allowed to take a break of around three weeks between the end of the tournament and the return to training.

As Barça also announced, the first phase of preparation will take place in the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, the club’s own premises. However, the Blaugrana did not provide any information about the second phase and its location. Nor can Barça currently name any opponents or opponents for the Trofeo Joan Gamper by name. According to initial reports, however, FC Barcelona want to invite Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
