This is how a person from Baden experienced the terrorist attacks in New York

“You could smell the destruction”: A citizen of Baden had an appointment in the World Trade Center – that’s how he experienced the terror in New York

Stefan Jaecklin would have had a business meeting in the towers on the afternoon of September 11, 2001. The memories of the unbelievable day never let go of him to this day. Four people he knew died in the attacks. “Since that moment I have known: There are people who are capable of anything, absolutely anything.” He talks to the Badener Tagblatt about the day 20 years ago, which he still knows everything about.

Today Stefan Jaecklin lives again in his hometown Baden. He went in and out of the World Trade Center in New York in the late 1990s.

Stefan Jaecklin has kept the access card to the World Trade Center. “I just can’t throw it away,” he says. Today he lives again in his hometown of Baden, he politicizes for the FDP in the residents’ council, and gives professional advice to start-ups. Twenty years ago, on September 11, 2001, he worked as a strategy consultant for financial services companies in New York.
