In the past 3.5 years after the launch of PCX Electric, PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) has developed joint studies with various parties in the electric motorcycle ecosystem and has offered rental business schemes to companies to support commercial operations across various lines. .
Since its launch in 2019, the PCX Electric scooter has been immediately used as the Gojek fleet. This is done by Gojek to discover the effectiveness of using electric motorcycles as a public transport service. As is well known, vehicles sold in Indonesia will move towards the electrification era in the future.
AHM marketing director Thomas Wijaya said that so far Gojek drivers who have tried PCX Electric have the experience of riding an electric motorcycle that feels like riding a conventional motorcycle.
“They are very positive. They are quite comfortable. So, their use in driving habits is not very different from gasoline. So what we see is quite positive,” Thomas told reporters in Jakarta (2/11/2022) .
Even so, there are still some other aspects that need to be improved. For example in terms of performance.
“It’s just a matter of distance and speed, that’s what needs to be improved. With this input, right now, we’re already using a technology that has been updated by the end of next year. So hopefully the distance can be. further extended, including the maximum speed can be increased, “explained Thomas.
In addition to being used for online mototaxis, AHM also supports the Indonesian government program to accelerate the electrification of motor vehicles through its participation in the Bali G20 presidency series of events through the assistance of 25 Honda PCX Electric units such as engines operational during the 3rd Meeting of the Working Group on Trade, Investment and Industry and Ministerial Meeting up to the culmination of the G20 Presidency Summit to be held in Bali from 15 to 16 November 2022.
