Composer Kārlis Lācis said that he is already used to coming to “Give five!” glass studio in Dome Square, and it is a great pleasure. A big surprise this year is the running of the charity marathon “Give five!” DJ Toms Grevins, who thus helps those with disabilities with mobility.
Intars Busulis, talking about this year’s “Give five!” emphasized that in Riga there are several attempts to make the urban environment accessible to people with disabilities. The singer also admitted that at the beginning of the charity marathon, he noticed and paid more attention to the environment in which he is located. Intars Busulis believes that progress is being made, but it is obviously necessary to continue to update the topic of accessibility and openness to everyone.
“It is very nice that we have tended to talk more and more about such topics lately. It is cool that people are no longer completely excluded as an unnecessary part of society, but that they have the opportunity to actively participate in the daily life of society,” says Intars Busulis.
However, Busulis does not understand why sometimes things are done for the sake of making the environment accessible just because of a “tick”, which is ultimately not applicable in reality.
“We are all human beings and we all need the same needs. I have been to Scandinavia and across the ocean. It is completely adapted there, they are very well socialized and include people with disabilities. Everyone has the opportunity to sit at the same table, climb “It ‘s good that there is this marathon that knocks on people’ s hearts,” concludes the singer.
