Jakarta –
Drama Korea (drakor) Racket Boys is being talked about. One of the dialogues on the show was considered to be insulting to Indonesia.
Racket Boys is currently airing on various movie streaming service provider sites, Netflix is one of them. This series tells the story of a high school badminton team.
The broadcast of episode 5 of the Korean drama, played by Tang Joon Sang, drew criticism from the Indonesian audience.
The story is that at that time they were competing in an international sporting event in Jakarta. The hotel restaurant where they talked was also in Jakarta.
Dialog in Racket Boys there are sentences from the scenario called demeaning Indonesia. Namely the scene when the coaches and badminton players vent their frustration when they gather at the restaurant.
“Bad behavior,” said the coach, hitting the table.
“Sir, calm down. You know this is not the first time,” said one of the athletes.
“The rooms are terrible. They (the hosts) train in the stadium and we are forced to train in one of the training grounds that has no air conditioning. That bastard,” said the coach again.
“There is one reason. Han Se-yoon (one of South Korea’s main players). They want to beat him at any cost. Don’t worry about Se-yoon. We have found the strategy,” said the coach again.
Dialog in Racket Boys it accused Indonesia of doing everything it could to win. Korean drama fans who we know there are so many in Indonesia feel disappointed. They considered the scene racist.
“Please SBS don’t talk or describe Indonesia from a negative side because you can trigger opinions against our country with words that are detrimental to us,” wrote an Instagram user in the SBS comment column.
“I’m waiting for clarification and apologies,” commented another netizen.
