KOMPAS.com – Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) defines the three regions where Analog Switch Off (ASO) starts or the first stage analog TV broadcast stops. The first phase of ASO itself will take effect on April 30, 2022.

The three regions include East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), West Papua and Riau. In more detail, the area for stopping analog TV broadcasts in NTT covers two areas, namely NTT-3 and NTT-4, consisting of the Regencies of North Central Timor, Belu and Malacca.

The next area is West Papua-3, covering the city of Sorong and Sorong Regency. Meanwhile in Riau, the broadcast area that has effectively stopped broadcasting analog TV is Riau-4, covering Dumai City, Bengkalis Regency and Meranti Islands.

“The permanent cessation of Phase I analog TV broadcasts starts from three broadcast areas in 3 provinces and 8 regencies/cities,” said Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate at the press conference of the ASO Kick Off Phase I which was held virtually. , Friday (29/4/2022).

This decision changed from the policy of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics regarding the ASO Phase I area which was previously determined. Initially, Kominfo determined that Phase I of ASO would apply to 116 regencies/cities covering 56 broadcast areas.

Accordingly, in other regions other than the three regions above, the implementation of the termination of analog/ASO TV broadcasts will be postponed. So, people other than in NTT, Riau and West Papua, can still watch analog TV broadcasts.

It is not yet known when the postponed areas will be affected by the cessation of analog TV broadcasts. The Minister of Communication and Information has also not explained the reason for the delay in most areas.
