The reason is, very few dinosaur fossils have been found in the rocks, recording the time of the disaster. Scientists found it at the Tanis fossil site in North Dakota, about 3,000 kilometers from the asteroid impact crater in the Gulf of Mexico.
The fossil was mixed with plants that appeared to have been swept away by waves triggered by Earth’s intense tremors from the impact of an asteroid estimated to be 10 kilometers long. This event, about 66 million years old, caused the dinosaurs and many other creatures to become extinct.

“We get a lot of detail on this site that tells us what was happening moment by moment in that moment,” said Robert De Palma of the University of Manchester who led the study.
“It’s like watching it play out in a movie. You look at the rocks, there’s fossils in there, and it takes you back to those days,” he added.
“It seems that this dinosaur severed its legs so quickly. There is no evidence that the legs were diseased, no visible disease, no traces of prey such as bites. So the best idea is that these animals died instantly,” another researcher said.
However, some are still skeptical about this finding and further research is needed. The evidence also needs to be shown thoroughly so that there is a consensus that it is true dinosaur it died at the time of the asteroid impact.
