This is a Close Relationship Between Heart Disease and Hypertension

31 percent in Indonesia suffer from hypertension of which 530 thousand of them have heart failure

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR — Hypertension or pressure high blood pressure turned out to be closely related. Even hypertension also affects several other organs such as the brain and kidneys.

This was revealed by a Cardiologist, dr. Ramang Napu, Sp.JP (K), FIHA, FacSS in Health Talk on Zoom and Youtube Live Streaming with the theme “Knowing Heart disease Hypertension”.

Hypertension worldwide has become a problem, its prevalence is around 30 to 45 percent, equivalent to one third of the world’s population. Meanwhile, the prevalence in Indonesia is 31 percent suffering from hypertension.

Not only these data alone, there are about 530 thousand people end up with heart failure. Hypertension occurs when blood flow pushes or compresses blood vessels very strongly. The causes of hypertension are varied, although most of them are not known with certainty.

In general, blood pressure is at 120-129mmHg per 80-84mmHg. If a person is in normal condition (not after exercise or activities that trigger blood pressure to rise) his blood pressure number exceeds that number, it can be stated that the person has hypertension.

Dr. Ramang Napu explained that hypertension is divided into two types, namely primary and secondary hypertension. In Indonesia alone, the highest percentage is primary hypertension, around 95 percent.

While secondary hypertension is usually caused by hormonal disorders, kidney disorders, there are cysts or tumors in the kidney, kidney stones and others. If the cause is removed there is the potential for his blood pressure to return to normal again.

“The cause of primary hypertension can be eliminated, usually this primary hypertension occurs because of a history of diabetes mellitus, smoking habits, consumption of drugs, processed foods that are preserved, obesity, alcohol consumption, and mental stress.”

There are four organs in the body that can regulate high blood pressure. First, is the heart which plays a role in distributing blood throughout the body, then the second is the brain which plays a role in regulating blood pressure to keep it stable or can be called the sympathetic nerves, third there are blood vessels that play a role in regulating blood pressure and the fourth is the kidneys which act as pressure regulators. blood and the kidneys secrete hormones to keep blood pressure stable.
