Citing Life Hack (17/6), the adverse effects of consuming instant noodles were shown by a doctor who specifically examined the process of how instant noodles are digested in the human stomach. Instant noodles tend to take a long time to process. The organs of the body are forced to work harder when instant noodles enter the stomach.
Dr. Braden Kuo, a neurogastoentrologist from Massachusetts General Hospital, researched this by inserting a small camera into the stomach of a person who had just eaten instant noodles. He then compared with people who eat fresh homemade noodles.

“The most surprising thing about our experiment is when we look at time intervals. Say in an hour or two, we see my instant those processed in the stomach are less damaged (crushed) than homemade noodles,” says Dr. Kuo.

Using a micro camera the size of a vitamin, Dr. Kuo recorded stomach activity for 32 hours. During this time span, the research team observed the activity of the stomach organs working hard to destroy instant noodles.
“What we see here is the stomach organ going back and forth trying to grind instant noodles,” explains Dr. Kuo.
This study clearly proves that instant noodles are indeed more difficult to digest. The organs in the stomach also seem to be forced to continuously destroy the texture of instant noodles in order to enter the next stage of metabolism.

Dr. Kuo thinks that the ingredient that makes instant noodles difficult to digest is the preservative Tertiary-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ). TBHQ is an additive commonly used in inexpensive processed foods, such as my instant and instant popcorn.
The FDA says that TBHQ should not exceed 0.02 percent of the food’s oil and fat content. Small amounts of TBHQ probably won’t kill you but can potentially have long-term health effects such as weakening of organs and the development of cancers and tumors.
Unfortunately, the research of Dr. Kuo still has too little data. It takes a lot of other tests that need to be tested in order to get valid data.
But as a precautionary measure, you should reduce the consumption of processed foods, especially instant foods so that the body’s organs remain healthy and function normally as they should.
