South Korean giant Samsung made a big splash at CES and Gamescom by unveiling its latest technological gem: the Odyssey 3D. No need for glasses! This new monitor offers you a new and realistic gaming experience, all in 3D.
3D seems to be experiencing a resurgence of interest thanks to Samsung. This effect was long considered a passing fad in the world of video games. The electronics company has therefore presented a gaming monitor that promises to revolutionize the way we approach video games. It is the Odyssey 3D. No more bulky and uncomfortable glasses, and make way for total immersion, without the slightest accessory.
Samsung Odyssey: 3D is back
How did Samsung manage to make 3D so immersive? And without resorting to traditional polarized glasses? The answer: technology fromlight field display (LFD). And what is the formula? A lenticular lens on the front panel added to a precise eye tracking which monitors eye movement from a stereo camera.
The Odyssey 3D thus manages to create the illusion of depth by projecting two slightly different images onto each eye. In addition, the view mapping continuously adjusts the image for an even more realistic perception.
Power-wise, beyond its 3D capabilities, this new Samsung monitor is a real monster. Its refresh rate goes up to 165 Hz and its response time is 1ms. This guarantees great image fluidity, perfect for the most demanding games.
A whole new 3D-esque chapter in video game history
The Odyssey 3D is not just about performance. Its design, at the same time ergonomic and elegantand its height-adjustable stand make it a central element of any gaming setup. It offers high resolution aup to 4K to give an ultra-detailed image.
This new 3D monitor from Samsung is available in 27 and 37 inches. It also has DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports. In addition, it is compatible with technologies AMD FreeSync Premium.
By offering this 3D monitor, Samsung could then revive the trend of 3D on the video game scene. It remains to be seen whether game developers will be able to take advantage of this novelty. However, if you are looking for a screen for pushing the boundaries of gamingthe Odyssey 3D is made for you.
However, Samsung is not the only one on the market. Acer has already overtaken it with its Predator SpatialLabs View 27. This one offers an interesting alternative with its program SpatialLabs TrueGame. The latter allows you to play many titles in 3D.
